Working with us

How long does a project take?+

Most print, ePUB and cover projects run 7–14 days from the moment you approve the quote. Editing, illustration and translation depend on length and scope. Whatever the service, your exact delivery date is fixed before we start — no rolling deadlines.

What does it cost?+

Packages start at €100 for eBook, €150 for print, and €300 for the complete print-and-eBook bundle. Illustration starts at €10 per piece. Editing, translation and rights are quoted to scope. You get a fixed quote within 24 hours, with no hourly surprises and no hidden costs — see our packages.

How do we start?+

Send your manuscript and a short note about what you need to publisher@librum.house, or use the contact form. We review it and reply with a plan, a fixed quote and a timeline, usually within one business day.

How many revisions are included?+

Two rounds on most services, written into the quote so there’s nothing to negotiate later. We’d rather take an extra pass and get it right.

Do you work with authors outside Serbia?+

Yes — we serve authors worldwide, and we work in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. Time zones aren’t a problem; most enquiries get a first reply within one business day.

Editing & writing

Do you offer editing?+

Yes — editing and proofreading in literary English only, by editors with 15+ years in literature and translation. Four levels: developmental, line, copy and proofreading.

What’s the difference between the editing levels?+

Developmental editing works on structure and the book as a whole; line editing improves how the prose reads; copy editing makes it correct and consistent; proofreading is the final pass before print. Many books benefit from more than one, in that order.

Can I get a manuscript critique before committing?+

Yes. A critique is an honest, structured editorial read — strengths, weaknesses, what to do next. It’s the cheapest way to learn which level of editing your book actually needs.

Do you write back-cover blurbs?+

Yes. We write blurbs and store-description copy — the short text that makes a browsing reader open the book. Available with editing or on its own.

Files & formats

What file should I send?+

A Word document (.docx) is ideal, for editing and production alike. Google Docs, InDesign files and clean PDFs also work. The cleaner the manuscript — consistent styles, no manual spacing tricks — the faster and cheaper the production.

Which formats do you deliver?+

For print: a print-ready interior PDF/X and a full cover wrap. For digital: a validated, reflowable ePUB 3, with a Kindle-compatible export on request. For covers and illustration: print-ready files plus the open, editable source files (PSD / AI).

Can you do print and eBook together?+

Yes — that’s the Complete package. Print preparation, an original cover and a reflowable ePUB built from one source, on one timeline, so your editions stay consistent. It also costs less than buying each piece separately.

Will my eBook work on Kindle and Apple Books?+

Yes. Every ePUB is validated against EPUBCheck and tested on Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, Nook, Google Play and 10+ readers. We include a Kindle-compatible export on request and a store-upload checklist.

Printing & paper

Do you handle printing too?+

We prepare the press-ready files that any printer can run. For international orders we don’t operate a press — which keeps you free to print with whichever house gives the best price and reach: KDP, IngramSpark or a local printer. Files are built to their exact spec.

What’s the difference between POD and offset?+

Print-on-demand prints one copy at a time with no upfront run — ideal for most self-published titles. Offset prints a set quantity at a lower per-copy cost once the run is large enough. Which wins depends on your run size and budget.

Can you prepare files for KDP and IngramSpark?+

Yes, and it’s one of the most common things we do. We build interior and cover to both platforms’ published specs so the files pass their checks the first time.

What trim size and paper should I choose?+

That depends on your genre and goals — we’ll advise, and our full guide covers every option: trim sizes (A5, 6×9 and more), paper weights (cream vs white, 70–80 gsm), binding and cover finishes. See the Book specs guide.

Covers & illustration

Do you design covers with AI?+

No. Every cover is drawn by hand in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and you keep the open source files. We never use AI-generated artwork.

Do you do illustrations?+

Yes — original illustrations in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop only, never AI. Spot art, full pages, children’s books, maps and diagrams. From €10 per illustration.

How is illustration priced?+

From €10 per piece, depending on complexity, level of detail, size and quantity. A series — like a children’s book or a set of chapter headers — is quoted together, and volume brings the per-piece price down.

Can you illustrate a children’s book or draw a map?+

Yes to both. A children’s book is quoted as a set with consistent characters and style across every page; maps are usually drawn in Illustrator so they scale perfectly.

Translation, rights & ISBN

Can you translate my book into Serbian?+

Yes. Native Serbian literary translators translate foreign authors’ books into Serbian — faithful to your voice, with a second-reviewer proofread — and we can produce the full Serbian edition. We reach readers across Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Croatia.

I’m a publisher looking for a Serbian author. Can you help?+

Yes. We represent Serbian authors and can reach virtually any author in the country, with sales data and rights handling, all the way to a finished edition.

Do I need an ISBN, and do you provide one?+

You need an ISBN to sell widely. Some platforms (like KDP) give a free one tied to that platform; for wider distribution many authors use their own (from their national agency or a provider like Bowker). We offer ISBN and barcode setup as an add-on and advise what’s right for your plan.

Do I keep the rights to my book?+

Always. You retain full rights to your manuscript, text and finished book — production work transfers no ownership to us, and you keep the editable cover source files. (Rights representation is a separate, opt-in service with its own agreement.) We’ll also sign an NDA on request.

What is the Margins forum?+

Margins is our free community forum about writing — craft, publishing, self-publishing, covers, marketing, translation and feedback. Anyone can read it; create a free account to post, ask and answer.
